My last question was poorly written. I want to move my Mystic BBS setup
to a MAC OS system. Can I just copy my system to MAC OS and then run the Mystic BBS MAC OS file and will it run?
MacOS, Windows and Linux all use a different Mystic 'package' because the systems run different binary filetypes. You'll have to get the correct version of Mystic for MacOS @ mysticbbs.com and install it.
I believe that you could just copy your current backup to the new system and run an UPDATE on your ~/mystic directory... this should just write over the old binaries. Don't forget to then run ./mplc -T to convert any .mpl files.
After that, you may run into some other 'issues'. You'll need to check PATHS for Message Areas, File Areas & I'd even run thru the prompt editor to see if yer calling anything that uses paths there... for example, on Windows a Message Base might point to;
C:\USER\MYSTIC\MSGS\DIRECTORY
While on MacOs that will be;
/home/user/mystic/msgs/directory/
Last, if you've done any custom .MPL scripts and NOT built in OS path correction, those might need addressing too - but most mods that are released come with this issue built-in and won't need modification....
Did I miss anything?
