    Cloudy skies will persist across Connemara throughout Thursday with persistent rain or drizzle, heaviest through the early hours into mid-morning before gradually easing from late morning into afternoon. Western coastal areas will see the steadiest rainfall while inland valleys may experience brief drier spells by afternoon. Temperatures will struggle to rise, reaching only 8-10C in most areas with the mildest conditions in southern districts. Winds will be strong and gusty from the west to southwest, reaching 30-40 kph widely with gusts of 45-55 kph particularly exposed coastal headlands and higher ground, moderating slightly by evening.

    Visibility will be reduced in rain and low cloud through the morning with hill fog affecting higher elevations. Conditions will remain raw and unpleasant despite any afternoon brightness, with the combination of wind, rain and modest temperatures making it feel particularly cold. Evening will see winds easing somewhat though remaining fresh, with scattered showers continuing overnight into Friday morning.
