  • hpt origin question

    I see where hpt has if statements in its config so that you can choose an origin line based on which module -- hpt, htick, etc. -- is creating the message. Is there also a way to have hpt use a different origin line on a per EchoArea group basis? Like outgoing messages in group 'A' get this origin line, while ones in group 'B' get another, and the rest get the default?

    About the only time I specify an origin line in HPT itself is when I use 'hpt post ... -z "tear line" -o "origin line" thingtopost.txt'

    I do have "Origin Northern Realms" in my hpt config file, which I assume would be added if I didn't specify an origin line with "hpt post".

    Otherwise it's either Mystic or GoldEd that adds an origin line to any message I post.

    With GoldEd in my golded.cfg I have:

    GROUP A
    USERNAME "Jay Harris"
    ORIGIN "Northern Realms"
    ENDGROUP

    GROUP C
    USERNAME "Jay Harris"
    ORIGIN "Net 400 Hub Eh?"
    ENDGROUP

    GROUP B
    USERNAME "Warpslide"
    ENDGROUP

    GROUP D
    USERNAME "Warpslide"
    ENDGROUP

    I will have to keep this in mind for future reference. I have tried
    installing golded+ but it complains about a missing file but doesn't say
    which one. That disinterested me some but I plan to try reinstalling it to
    see if maybe that fixes it.

    The config was handy so I am not sure what it could not find.

    If you were pulling from github and compiling yourself, it was probably looking for 'mygolded.h', which per the first step of the compile instructions you need to edit 'mygolded.__h' to personalize it, and rename it to 'mygolded.h'.

    While I don't have experience with this, if you were using Windows binaries, whatever file it's looking for should probably be in the same directory as the executable, unless you specifically run golded and specify where your config file is located on the command line.

    Also, actually editing the config file and making sure paths and whatever else is correct is also helpful, as it may not successfully run with the default config.
