    it seems Hermes bbs doesnt run in mac silicon or even intel mac. But if I had an intel mac perhaps I would have been able to
    use rosetta for the ppc?

    It's open source, maybe try compiling it for Silicon?

    Would not compile for me. I asked the author, he said it is not for intel or silicon

    What do you mean by "mac silicon"? All computer chips these days use silicon..

    Mac device withe a M chip instead of Intel, all new Macs have the Silicon M series.

    Ah. "Silicon" is a general term for the element. I've heard Apple call it "Apple Silicon", though it's not a trademarked word.

    I think it is used to show the difference betwen the M chips and Intel CPUs. Must find out who term the term Apple Silicon

    Can't you use Rosetta 2? It should pop-up when you try to run any Intel software, or force the issue;

    softwareupdate --install-rosetta --agree-to-license

    Maybe, but PPC support/Rosetta was removed from MacOS years ago.

    Hermes is a clone of WWIV, which is for Intel. I haven't checked if the Linux version will run on MacOS, but I'm personally running it in a Linux VM on MacOS.
